Dear Friends,

Please join me in welcoming some of our newest members:  Ashley, Charles and Deb Major, Michael and Steve.  Thank you for your interest in helping animals in our area and for all that you do. We will be hosting a meet and greet and pet food collection drive next Saturday, December 17th at the Dog Day Afternoon Spa, located at 4734 Magazine Street, Uptown, from 1-3 pm.  Please mark your calendars now, and we will send additional information within the next 48 hours.

Our group is always looking for additional help whenever any of you can spare a few hours.  Errands need to be run,  food needs to be delivered to housebound pet owners, and letters written on our behalf - these are just a few of our needs every day of the week.  Also, if you  have a special skill or trade which could help our cause, please let us know, so we can put you to work!

Although we are a grass-roots organization, our group works on a number of different fronts and carries out a variety of programs and services.  Here is a recent article that covers some of our work:  http://blog.nola.com/westbank/2011/12/horses_are_a_special_concern_t.html

We also have a holiday project that could fit anyone's schedule.  We are trying to hand out 2,000 holiday door hangers within the next five days!  These can be left on door steps or on windshields.  The hangers include a return envelope so that we can attract new donors and members.  We would love for many of you to pass out these holiday door hangers in your neighborhood, so we can reach a broad range of potential new members.  If you can donate a few hours to this project, please pick up some materials this Sunday, December  11th, from 4-5 pm (after the Saint's game!).  Please stop by and say hello and pick up a few hundred hangers.  I will be at PJ's Coffee House, 436 Veterans Memorial Bvld, in Metairie, across the street from Kenneth's Hair Salon.

I could use your help in completing this project, so please donate a few hours during this holiday season, and I hope to see you next Saturday at our  pet food drive!

Sincerely yours,

Jeff Dorson
