Lobbying at our State Capitol - Exercise Your Rights!

From: Jeff

Dear Friends,

The majority of Americans rarely exercise their rights to influence legislation on the local, state or federal levels,  even though its a guaranteed right that can often benefit thousands and thousands of animals in need.  I have been lobbying for the past 25 years, traveling to Baton Rouge and other cities to lobby in favor or against bills that either harm or protect animals.

There are several pieces of legislation that have been introduced during this year's state legislature that warrants your attention and action.  In this email, we will focus on the bill introduced by State Representative Tom Willmott, H.B. 1091. This bill prohibits the transport of dogs in an unsafe manner in the back of open vehicles on state and federal highways in Louisiana. We've all seen the image of the dog leaning over the side of a speeding pick-up truck, trying to maintain it balance - and we are all terrified that the dog will fall out and injure itself or cause an accident - which sometimes happens! This bill will prohibit that act.

To help pass the bill out of House Transportation, Highways, and Public Works Committee, please contact the following committee members and ask them to vote in support of H.B. (refers to House Bill) 1091.  The bill is scheduled to be heard this Monday, April 14th, around 11 am.

Please send your emails in SUPPORT of this bill to the following committee members.  As always, if one of them is your representative, make note of that in your email.
