From meditation to psychedelics, from sleep to study, the ways we alter consciousness are part of our lives. From actions as natural as eating to surgeries as invasive as deep brain stimulation, what we do changes us.
This month let's look at some of the ways we try to be different, either just for a while, or for a more lasting future, and see how we feel about the societal ethics, our desires, and our need to change ourselves.

D-Cubed, (Discussion, Debate, and Dinner) is a monthly gathering hosted alternatively by Jerry Smith and Mark Thoson of the Humanists of MN. This month, Mark will lead the discussion. We meet the second Saturday of the month and the following Sunday. The talks are independent, not continuations so please choose the one that fits your schedule the best. If there is a waitlist, you may sign up for both until you are confirmed if you like. PLEASE NOTE: THE LOCATIONS ARE DIFFERENT FOR THE TWO DATES. This sign up is for Sunday at Highland Park Library.

As is our habit, a list of links is provided so that everyone who comes may read up on the subject matter before attending. We have rousing discussions, moderated for respect and inclusivity that are enhanced by our prior studies. The selected links below are numerous but mostly short. So please take a look at as much of the following source materials as you can:

If you are aware of other online resources that would enlighten our discussion, feel free to suggest them by posting links in the "Comments" section that follows.

At 4:30 PM or shortly thereafter, we will wrap up our formal discussion. Those who wish to continue conversing about these and other topics are invited to join Jerry and Mark for dinner at Vina, a Vietnamese restaurant located nearby at 756 Cleveland Avenue South, a short walk from the library. We'll have tables reserved for our group.

Hope you can join us!
