Join us for a special conversation with Tim and Sean, founders and hosts of the Grand OAK Opry, a beloved backyard concert series that has become a Saint Paul summertime tradition.

At this event, Tim and Sean will share the story of how the Grand Oak Opry began, what it takes to keep it going, and how a backyard stage has become a hub for art, belonging, and civic connection. We’ll explore what it means to build community through creativity — and how small acts of generosity can ripple outward to strengthen neighborhoods.

The presentation and discussion will be from 3:00 - 4:30. Afterwards, gather with other Saturday session attendees in the gallery for refreshments and socializing.

For nearly a decade, the Grand Oak Opry has been bringing neighbors and friends together under the branches of a massive oak tree to enjoy live music and genuine connection. What began in 2014 as a simple idea to host a few local musicians in their own backyard, has grown into a series of shows each summer, featuring talented local artists and drawing an ever-widening circle of community members.

Tim, store manager at Stogies on Grand, and Sean, Public Works Director for the City of Saint Paul, have lived in their West 7th neighborhood for over 30 years. After years of hosting holiday gatherings, they wanted to keep that neighborly spirit alive year-round. With help from local volunteers and sponsors, they created an inclusive, grassroots space where music, friendship, and shared joy take center stage.
