Talk at WASH MDC meeting - “The Enlightenment Vision: Science, Reason, & the

This is our regular and fairly informal monthly meeting kicking off the Fall series at  new location in the Rockville Library.

Stuart Jordan (WASH Board member and long time NASA scientist) will speak on his new book "The Enlightenment Vision: Science, Reason, and the Promise of a Better Future"

“From Enlightenment lessons to the prospects for planetary humanism, Stuart Jordan casts an epochal eye on humankind’s progress and asks, if the primary goal of the Enlightenment was a higher state of civilization for all, are we any closer to achieving it today? Forget about what you believe—if you think the human species can ultimately survive, read this book and find out why.”

from a review by Jennifer Bardi, editor, The Humanist

The talk will be followed by a snack break where people can socialize and  merge into a Q &A with the speaker.

Handouts about WASH and other secular, scientific and humanist topics will be available.

All are welcome.
