AHA March for Our Lives
Join us March 24 in Washington, DC to march for the safety of our future generations. Together we can send a powerful message that we want to protect our society from unnecessary gun violence. As humanists, atheists, and nontheists, we understand that we have only one life. We view prioritizing safety, especially for children and others less able to protect themselves, as prerequisite to a civilized society. We watch with sadness as the protection of gun purchasing and ownership continues to be placed before the protection of lives, with the result that the United States lags lamentably behind other nations in the preventing the death of children from gunfire. The march will begin at 12pm on the National Mall between 3rd & 12th Streets, NW. Our group will meet in front of the Federal Triangle metro stop near 12th Street NW at 11:40 am. RSVP on Facebook:

What we're about

Public Group

Meet other local Humanists, people who believe in the basic goodness of the human spirit without supernaturalism.

The Washington Area Secular Humanists (WASH) was incorporated in 1989 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization in Maryland. Our purpose is to promote scientific literacy and critical thinking, to provide a forum for humanists and others to explore humanist principles and how they relate to all aspects of human experience, and to study the significance of humanism throughout history. Secular humanists are distinguished by an emphasis on scientific methods of knowing, separation of church and state, and a commitment to the pursuit of humanist goals outside religious frameworks.

WASH is a Cooperating Local Group of the Council for Secular Humanism, an affiliate of the American Humanist Association, and an affiliate of American Atheists and an endorsing group of The Secular Coalition of America

While being a member of the WASH meetup group is free please consider joining as a member of WASH to help support our activities. (
