If you do, how do you label yourself (Humanist, Ethical Culturist, Atheist, Skeptic, Religious, etc)?

Unitarian Universalist, primarily Humanist, but interested in Buddhist practice. I have often thought that I am not an atheist, but that was only because I held to a rather vague belief in God on the order of deism, pantheism, or panentheism. I have not held any common religious belief in God since I was about 20 years old.

Welcome to Humanism San Diego, How did you hear about us, and what gives us the fortune of having your company?

Internet searching.

What would you like to see from our group?

Social connections with people who share philosophical tendencies and don't invoke dogmatic or fanatical religious beliefs. I would like to have intellectual stimulating conversations with people, and be able to act in the world with people in a way that I believe is improving the state of affairs that exists for human beings living on this planet as well as the overall health of the planetary environment in which we live.

How long have you considered yourself to be a Humanist?

Off and on I have considered myself at least closely aligned with Humanism since somewhere in my mid twenties (putting that about 25 years ago).

Hello, My name is Michael Dorais. Long ago as a child, teen and young adult I was an evangelical Christian, but since then, in spite of a touch-and-go interest in religion-at-a-distance, I have been largely a humanist.
