Philosophy Talk Podcasts - Listen & Discuss

  • Nov 17, 2013 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Gather to listen to audio podcasts of Philosophy Talk, the award winning philosophy talk show. PhilosophyTalk.org

We spend an hour listening to the podcast, stopping as we wish for short questions or comments. We sometimes don't get to the end of the podcast within the hour and we do start and end on time. Sometimes people remain afterwards for longer fuller discussions.

Seating is limited so please keep your RSVP current. Those who RSVP but don't show for two of these meetups will not be permitted to RSVP for the next two meetups.

More details to follow.

Tomorrow I will bring a video that discusses three different kinds of humanists, including one kind that we might not typically think of as humanist.

Now, we don't have to watch it. Whoever gets there before 9:30am gets to vote.

I found this video as part of the coursera course on humankind (which I highly recommend).

In it, Dr. Harari, an Israeli, discusses his claim that the Nazis were a certain kind of humanist.

There, does that whet your appetite? :)

    Maybe see you tomorrow?

If it's too cold to meet outside, we'll be meeting indoors very near the table that we usually sit at. Head away from the large sports field nearby. Walk maybe 20 feet and turn right and go through the door. This is where the family program meets. They start at 10:45. We finish at 10:30. Perfect fit.

I'm going to start a "Discussion" to hold everyone's suggestions about materials we could use for this gathering. Feel free to add yours.
