Join our Wednesday SouthWest Walk for Health and Humanism at Washington Square Mall. Why do mall walks start so early? So we don't run down the shoppers who arrive when the stores open, of course! This is the rainy day alternate to the Westside Walk in the park -- and, we are family friendly!
Do you have a Darwin/humanism/freethought T-shirt? Remember to wear it so we can spread a little science and reason as we walk.
We had to make the call, with the forecast and all, but if you can't make it to the walk, join us at the mall at 10:00 AM for our coffee hour -- conversation starter: bring the titles of books you are reading.
Park near the Washington Square Transit Center bus stop and look for the entrance nestled between Dick's Sporting Goods and JC Penney. We'll be at the long row of tables just past the children's play area, directly across from the restrooms; Starbucks Coffee is around the corner (not the food court.)
Plan to meet a few minutes early so we can pair up and be ready to start the walk together at 9:00 AM. After 50 minutes of walking, we'll return to our table for some Caffeinated Conversation.
Are you a Rabbit, Turtle, or Mollusk (those who must travel at a snail's pace)? We hope to have someone in the group who can walk at your speed; if you are a Super-Humanist you may need to bring your own walking partner. Don't forget to include about 4 minutes of a warm-up pace to start your walk, then finish with a few minutes at a cool-down pace.
Teens, and older children with adult supervision are welcome, as are babies in strollers.
We've never cancelled! To get the Event Host's cell number in case you can't find us, email them from their member page before the activity by clicking on their icon.
All Meetup fees are paid by the Humanists of Greater Portland through your memberships; donations towards the work of HGP are greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you -- bring a friend!
