Raw Swap Meet: Ideas for items

From: Joni Sare, C.

Hi all,

I'm writing to give ideas for Swap Meet items. If you made it, grew it, harvested it, or foraged for it and it's edible AND raw, you can trade it!

Please reply with your ideas, or what you'll be bringing, let's share, let's motivate each other to do some swapping.  :)

First, here are a couple of things to note:
  • containers can be very simple or gift-like
  • two-cup servings, between 4 and 16 oz
  • will be very good to have small-bite size samples

IDEAS FOR SWAP ITEMS:

1. Produce -- from fruit trees and gardens (any produce from the Farmer's Market, too) ....
  • Perhaps you have --or know of someone who has-- a fruit tree, or plentiful garden.
  • Let me know if you (or your neighbor) needs help harvesting, I'll bring my ladder (if needed).
  • I can store the produce in my garage.
  • Most times vendors at the Farmer's Market will give discounts if you buy in larger quantities, buy 3 for $5 for example, so, go ahead do that and then swap the extras.

2. Anything homemade ...
  • Sauerkraut
  • Kim chi
  • Kvass
  • Holiday themed pies, large or small sizes (pecan pie, pumpkin pie, etc)
  • Soups
  • Juices
  • Rejuvelac
  • Kombucha
  • Cookies
  • Bread

Here are some of the items I will Swap:   (feel free to make the same items, then we'll have plenty to share)
  • Kale Chips
  • Onion Bread
  • Zucchini Bread
  • Apple Wraps
  • Tomato Tortillas
  • Dried cherries

IDEA! ... an invitation ... to use my dehydrators, come over on Friday and/or Saturday, the days just before this event. Contact me if you are interested.

ANOTHER IDEA ... to come early on Sunday afternoon to make an item with the Vitamix, the Blentec, the juice machines. Contact me if you are interested.

3. Produce from online....
  • Chia seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Green powders
  • Dates

I jumped in on a DATE order with Audrey, from the Monterey raw meetup group, and will have Barhi Dates to swap.

4. Personally, I'm hoping someone will bring HERBS.... I love using fresh herbs, yet rarely buy them b/c the small bundles at markets have too high of a price tag.
  • Mint
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary
  • Lemon verbena

this list could be very long, any herb is welcome

yum fun to come!
