KAYAK BENEATH HOT AIR BALLOONS
The 2013 Hot Air Balloon launches in the morning at Dutchess County
HVH will be in Kayaks to watch them take-off and drift overhead.
Balloons are planned to lift off at 6am. Sunrise is at 5:30. Gates open at 4am, but we hope to be on the water by 5am to watch the sun rise over Poughkeepsie. Bring a headlamp.
We will enter the water on the Dutchess side of the river, hugging the shore and then paddling out to the center to watch sun rise and the hot air balloons take off, before paddling back. Pack a thermos of hot cocoa or coffee, sunglasses, a camera and bincolars for when the balloons fly out of sight.
Kayak Rentals Available. Rental inludes life vest, paddle, boat and transport of the boat to and from the put-in.
