Snowshoes and hiking poles

Total Mileage: 5 - 7
Total Elevation Gain: maybe 1400
Estimated Hike Time: 3 to 5 hours
Special Gear / Requirements: Cold weather wicking clothing (avoid cotton!), food/water as you feel is appropriate, first aid, insulating layer and rain gear (just in case), compass, camera!

Getting there: Take the New York State Thruway to exit 18: New Paltz. After toll booth make left into Park n Ride Parking Area

Route Description:

Pace and Time: Beginners Pace, hours

Group Size: The DEC limits group sizes to 20.

WARNING REGARDING BUSHWHACKS: "Bushwhacks" are hikes that go off of maintained trails and through pure wilderness. Please make sure you are very confident in your ability to navigate through the woods without trails since it is very easy to get lost in these forests, especially in the summer. Map & Compass REQUIRED. GPS is also recommended, but it is not a substitute for a map & compass and the skills to use them effectively.
