I ordered similar traction mats from Amazon that same night. I also ordered a foldable, carbon steel blade shovel! Nothing can stop me now!!!!

Thanks, Marty, for a great hike on a beautiful day in the sun and the snow!

Thanks so much, Everyone, for helping free my car from the snow! Job well done and very quickly!

Great to meet you all, see some of you again, and to see my friends Wendy & Pola all the way from PA!

Congratulations, Marty, Christine, and Wint on your successful forensic accounting with the bill at Last Chance. Great detective work!

Totally agree, Fun hike today. Thanks Marty, for organizing and leading it. Christine did a great job braking trail up the Blackhead. And getting the cars from the snow was a good addition to get full body exercise :)

Fun hike today! Thanks, Marty, for organizing. What a beautiful day - and very warm! We don't see many 55 degree days in February. We unstuck 2 cars in the parking lot using shovels, cat litter, tire traction mat, and lots of muscle - great team work! It was great to meet everyone!

Tomorrow's temperature will be 52/37. It has snowed a few times recently so there should be a good amount of snow on the ground. Also, due to the warmer weather, the snow will be soft, wet, and slippery. I am bringing snowshoes and microspikes. I'll likely use snowshoes the entire time.

I hiked Lone & Rocky this past Thursday. There was about 1 to 1.5 ft of snow. We used snow shoes the entire hike - they were absolutely necessary.

Likewise for me on North Dome & Sherrill Thursday: deep, wet, & slippery. I was hoping with trailed mtns Sat there would be broken trail and I could carry my shoes! :-)

Just FYI, I'll be staying at Mansion House at Alfie's, which is a 25 minute drive from the trailhead. I tried Snowed Inn, but they are booked.

I will be driving up from the city Saturday AM and have room in the car. I can pick up either in Astoria or UES. Private message me if interested.

Hi. Anyone coming from the city that has space in their car? I am a well trained car guest and, although I live in Queens, I can meet you at any convenient location.

    • Reza

Hi Tim, I'm looking for a ride too, do you still have space in your car?

      February 12

    • Reza

By the way, I know some other people who RSVPed for this event also need a ride. Anyone else drives up from the city and has space in her/his car?

      February 12

  • Wendy

+ 1 Pola dog! Did Blackhead this past weekend, so if it's alright with you, Marty, I plan to split off when you all go up the yellow trail. I'll take the red trail up and hook back up with you at Black Dome and/or Thomas Cole.
