While the elevation grade on this trail is mild at first, it gets VERY STEEP. The trail crosses a stream at two places and rock hopping or downed tree crossing is necessary. After 2 miles on the RED trail, we will come to the intersection with the BLUE trail. We will take a right onto the BLUE trail for approximately 0.8 mile up to Balsam Mountain summit. After enjoying the view and a snack, we'll retrace our steps and return to our cars.
**FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH MAPS OF THE RELEVANT TRAILS/AREA AS WELL AS ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS BEFORE DOING THIS HIKE.**
