How to find us

We will meet in the large parking lot that's about 800' north of the Breakneck tunnel. It;s on Rt. 9D about 2.5 miles north of the intersection of Rts. 9D and 301 in Cold Spring.

The Hike - Meet at the large parking lot that's about 800' north of the Breakneck tunnel on Rt.9D. The first .8 mile is a steep rock scramble that's fun yet challenging. Newer hikers should not overestimate his/her abilities. We will go up the white trail by the tunnel. There will be a number of nice viewpoints along the white trail. After about 2 miles, turn left on the Red "by-pass trail" and go down hill to the Yellow trail. Left on yellow to Rt. 9D and to parking lot. There won't be a sweep but there will be several brief stops at the various viewpoints.

Elev. Gain - 1,250 ft.

Duration - 2 - 2.5 hrs.

Gear: map, water, appropriate footwear, snacks, etc


You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
