This is a FAST paced morning hike. Self reliant hikers only. There will be no sweep. Not suitable for beginners. You should be comfortable hiking alone if necessary
From the Breakneck Trailhead on Rt. 9D, we will do the rock scramble up the white trail and take in the great views. We will stay on that trail to the Blue Trail. Descend on the Blue Trail, then make a right on Red back to Route 9D which will put us just south of the Tunnel.
Please arrive in time to start at 9:15.
Gear: moisture-wicking clothing recommended. Map: NY/NJ Trail Conf. Map #102 or other Hudson Highland map.
Distance: Approx. 4-4.3 miles
Elevation Gain: Approx. 1,850 feet.
Duration: 2.5 hours
This fun hike will be at a quicker pace for those who want to hike but have the rest of the day for other activities.
There will be several nice viewpoints along the trail. Bring a camera for some great photos! NOTE: You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear, supplies, clothing, first aid, and lights. You should review topographic maps and trail features carefully; understanding topography of any hike is key to your knowing where you are, where you're going, and how to get back.
