How to find us

Minnewaska SP main park entrance is on Rt. 44/55, 5 miles west of intersection of Rts. 299 and 44/55. (it's one mile PAST the Peter's Kill parking area). From the entrance booth, go straight to the lot that's 700' straight past the booth.

Minnewaska State Park - Parking is $10/car or use Empire Pass.

The Hike - Park opens at 9am. Starting the trail at 9:15 from the Lower Awosting parking lot which is 700' beyond the park entrance booth. Please arrive a few minutes before. From the parking lot, we'll head onto the Lower Awosting Carriage Road for about 100 yards. Turn left onto the Mossy Glen Trail (Yellow). Follow the stream for about a mile and turn right onto Blueberry Run Trail (Blue). Cross stream and go uphill to the carriage road. Left on the carriage road until it crosses a roadway bridge. Then left on the blue SRT trail into the woods. It's also called the Rainbow Falls Trail (Orange). After passing the Rainbow Falls, continue on to the Castle Point Carriage Road. Turn left. Follow this road a short distance and then turn left into the woods on the Blueberry Run Trail. Take that to the Mossy Glen Trail and turn right (or continue further to the carriage road and turn right). Either way will take you back to parking lot.

Elevation gain: Approx. 1,200 feet

Difficulty: moderate
Gear: Foot traction (microspikes, etc.) ; Appropriate footwear; clothing for changing temperatures; poles may be helpful for some people; .
