Join us for the last meetup of the year! We will close out 2019 focusing on some incredible local initiatives run by some incredible local individuals. There will be lots of end-of-year cheer, warmth, and joy.

To make the event extra special, we'll be joined by the evocative jazz duo, 'The Rhythm Method'; Studio Stu & Peter Head. Come mingle with friends and enjoy the show!

Greta Byrum - Community Tech New York

Greta will talk about the evolution of community wireless, digital stewardship, and data justice over the last decade through the history of collectively built collaborative community-owned internet projects in Detroit and NYC. Then we'll turn to a discussion of plans to build equitable community internet in Kingston: what's it going to take, how to get involved -- and how to define our goals and intentions for the tech we want to see in our communities.

Additionally, Greta and her partner Raul Enriquez will be setting up a demo of a Portable Network Kit! Be sure to arrive nice and early for a chance to play with some very cool technology.

Annmarie Lanesey - AlbanyCanCode

Annmarie Lanesey, Founder and CEO of Albany Can Code, and President of Agile software development shop Greane Tree Technology will be on hand to discuss the story of Albany Can Code, and its critical work developing a tech talent pipeline in the Capital Region and New York State. And the plan for a 2020 program in the Hudson Valley Region!

Dr. Greg Simpson & Hugo Jule - Climate Change App

Gregory and Hugo will provide the first ever presentation in the Hudson Valley about the 411ClimateChange platform and app dedicated to putting climate change front and center in your life. Through this app, everything becomes about climate change. Every business you shop at. Every dollar you spend. Every person you connect with. Every news story you read. All of it relates to climate change and plays a role in the fight against it. You’re not just making climate change a priority in your life—you’re shaping your life around fighting it.
