What we're about

Ignatian Women in Spirit, Service, and Hospitality is a ministry of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish at 3235 Arden Way in Sacramento. iWISSH is open to all registered parishioners. Catholic women who are not parishioners may join if endorsed by an existing member. Our mission is to foster community and commitment by helping our parish women get to know one another and participate in fun and meaningful experiences consistent with Jesuit Catholic tradition.

Each month, iWISSH members host at least one spiritual, one service, and one social activity. Each iWISSH member is asked to host one event per year. To host an event, simply pledge to attend with your iWISSH nametag, and introduce yourself to any other iWISSH members who show up. That's it. Your event can be something already on the church calendar (such as, a daily Mass) or you can organize your own event at church, in your home, around town--anywhere! Approved events will be added to the Meetup. Events must be open to all iWISSH members, but you may restrict the number attending. For example, if you host a book club in your home, you can limit attendance to 12 people and the first 12 women to sign up will get in.

The guidelines include: -- creating a safe place to speak the truth with acceptance and without judgment. -- Offering not what comes to mind, but what comes to heart. -- We are kind as well as gentle. -- If a confidence is shared, then it is not repeated -- Sharing is optional, but anyone should be able to speak uninterrupted. -- Remember to practice active listening. -- One conversation at a time. -- Be comfortable with silence; the Holy Spirit speaks in silence -- Most important, bring Christ into the conversation.
