This workshop was designed for UX Designers by leaders who hire UX Designers. This is the "missing guide" to your UX Career that boot camps are not teaching you.
In our Meetup group’s monthly Peer-to-Peer reviews, we see common questions arise:
- Is my portfolio good enough?
- How do I position my strengths?
- How do I make that special connection with the hiring leader and team?
- How do I figure out why I didn’t get that job?
- How do I handle the stress and pressure of a job search?
- What kind of mindset is constructive?
In this workshop, you will answer these questions by using a Design Thinking approach. We’ll start with insights into the changing market for designers.
MATCHING YOURSELF TO THE FIVE HIRING PERSONAS
Then, we’ll review the 5 personas of hiring teams, from agencies and ventures to enterprises—and the different things that each team looks for in a design coworker.
FINDING THE RIGHT JOB
With these insights, you’ll choose your best-fit place to work, develop a readiness checklist, and outline the portfolio story you want to tell.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
For all job levels, from student intern to team director.
WORKSHEETS & EXERCISES
Based on feedback and team discussions from our previous three workshops, we'll have more worksheets and exercises to help move you further ahead.
We recommend the public parking structure for Santa Monica Library main branch at: 601 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90401
The entrance to the structure is off 7th street.
It's a flat rate $5/day on the weekend and a lot cheaper than the parking lot across the street from Blankspaces. Also, you'll avoid the traffic jams on the street and parking lots on the 2nd/3rd street area.
AT THE DOOR - DAY OF EVENT
At the door registration will be $20.00.
Unfortunately, Meetup no longer supports Wait Lists for paid events. If you'd like to be on the Wait List, please join our LAUXMeetup.com/slack group and join the #waitlist channel. On that channel, let us know your name and which event you'd like to try to get a spot on. If a spot opens up, it'll be first come first serve.
