9/19 Steve Portigal - YOU DECIDE THE TOPIC

For our next meetup with Steve Portigal, we have thought of doing things a little differently and let the group members decide on the subject. Steve can speak to us about: 1) Interviewing Users: Uncovering Compelling Insights. This talk will look at how to frame the research problem so it has the most impact on the team and their design. We will explore: ✱ Importance of rapport-building & listening Techniques ✱ Review different types of questions ✱ Why you need to have a range of question types ✱ What type of participants to recruit and how to find them 2) The Power of Bad Ideas. In business and in life, we pursue the good stuff and champion people who are known for their good ideas. In design & in brainstorming, deliberately seeking out bad ideas is a powerful way to unlock creativity. In this talk, Steve will explore how opening up the bad idea valve can lead unexpectedly to the kind of success we aim for with our good ideas. Please choose a topic and make your selection below!

Is Long Beach OK as a meetup location?

No location in LA is good for everybody, but we try to share the burden around. We're considering Long Beach for a meetup, maybe January. Do you consider Long Beach an OK option?

Select discussion topics for the July IA meetup

At the July IA meetup, we'll do small-group discussions (table topics). We intend to have about 6 tables, each with a different topic. Please mark all of the following topics that look interesting to you.

What topics and/or events are you interested in?

The field of user experience has a number of emerging themes. Various topics related to our field are becoming more important, even if they have been around for a long time. As we see shifts taking place, we want to feature events on the most relevant themes. So, share your thoughts and influence what we do!
