A joint meetup between the Central Iowa Java Users Group and the Iowa .NET User Group! Hope to see you all there!!

This month we have a unique opportunity for our members. We are honored to have Tim Gifford from Lean Techniques, Javier Lozano from Lozanotek, and Curtis Brown & Katie Gieszler from the City of Urbandale Economic Development Department as panel members for a technology town hall. This meeting will be on October 4th at 6 pm at the Giovannetti Community Shelter in Walker Johnson Park in Urbandale.

As technologists, we often are focused on the day to day delivery of software for our customers. We rarely have the opportunity to think about how our firm or customers actually decided to run their operations in the communities that they are in. Have you ever wondered what happens when a company approaches a city about building a new facility? Are you curious as to what technology companies are needing from their host cities in order to grow? We will dive into these questions and have an open discussion about why technology companies figure in so importantly to growth strategies of our communities. The meeting will start with presentations by the panelists. We will then open the floor to your questions and discussion. Afterwards, we invite you to stay and network with your fellow technologists and community officials.

We hope you will enjoy this rare opportunity to examine why technology is so important to our economy and our future.
