Challenges of 2017 & Onward, and How Tech Can Help #MeetupAmerica

Culminating on November 8th, the events of last year made everyone acutely aware that there's a lot of work to do. Many pressing social problems need to be addressed urgently so we can move to a more just sustainable and just system. The events of last weeks made many technologists question whether we should rely on the government to solve some of those issues -- and to which extent governments create new ones.

We're very aware that not all problems *should* or *can* be solved with tech entrepreneurship -- but in many cases technology and technologists can help. In December we want to invite you to an "open mic" meetup. Let's meet over wine and chat about ideas and solutions. We'll try to think broadly -- not just about immediate steps and ideas (more clean energy) but also about some crazy ones -- focusing both on short term and on long term. 5min lightning talks and impromptu presentations are welcome. Unlike our other meetups, this one won't be video-recorded.

Our next meetup won't be until January 2017 so consider this a last chance to spend time with your new and future impact.tech friends before Winter Holidays!

It will be a proper "meetup" -- an open / quasi-moderated discussion + a community get-together. We'll start around 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Just edited the Eventbrite event, thanks for pointing it out!

Hi everyone! How does the format of the meetup breakdown tonight? Lists 6:30pm-9:30pm on Eventbrite vs. 6:30-8:30pm here. I can't stay the whole time, so was trying to figure out if I have an hour, when to come. Thanks for organizing. I <3 impact.tech.
