AT&T Israel R&D Center volunteered to develop the โ€œMy Special Wayโ€ project. This is an indoor-navigation project for the โ€œYachdavโ€ school for children with Autism, located in Tel-Aviv.
Since this was a volunteer project, we needed all hands on deck
We decided to open source this project within the company and allow every developer to participate.
But how could we allow hundreds of developers to write code and still maintain a high level of quality and best engineering practices?
In this talk we will review the key points of how to manage a good inner source project:
โ€ข What can be considered as a good inner source project
โ€ข How to encourage people to contribute and why should they care
โ€ข What tools can be used for task management, CI/CD, tests, security
โ€ข How to enforce unit-tests, automation and other best practices
โ€ข How to make the right technological choices for a project like this

Ceph is an open-source software-defined storage which provides object, block and file system in a single cluster. It is designed for reliability, performance, and scaling from terabytes to exabytes with no single point of failure.

This talk will describe the Ceph architecture, from its bottom-level RADOS object store to CephFs distributed filesystem, RADOS block device and S3-compatible RADOS Gateway, and will also discuss new upcoming improvements.

More of today's applications are being built from smaller components and modules.
However, the workflow around building with smaller components can also generate a lot of overhead. Bit is an open source project which helps developers discover, use and collaborate on shared components while distributing the development process itself.

In this talk I will introduce Bit, talk about the challenges and opportunities of building a core piece of your technology with the community, the challenges of having to play hand in hand with the rapidly-changing open source ecosystem (from Git & NPM to Webpack and React) and share some insights for teams who want to open source some of their projects.

The event will be hosted at Google for Startups Campus:
    HaUmanim 12, Tel Aviv

The "multi-threading is hard" fallacy is propagated by programmers who jump feet first into multi-threading โ€“ and drown.
When facing the challenge of adding parallelism to their application, those same programmers reach into their multi-threading toolbox and pull out the only tool theyโ€™ve got: the synchronised block / mutex / semaphore etc.
In this talk weโ€™ll see why when implementing parallelism - locking should be our last resort, and how to approach the concurrency challenge in a safer, simpler way.

Yaniv Nahoum is a software developer and technical coach at AT&T Israel, he works closely with development teams, helping them deliver faster and with higher quality by putting a strong emphasis on developer productivity and engineering practices.

Sivan Milwerger & Stav Levi - From query to code
When analyzing data, you tend to start off with quick and dirty queries. Over time as requirements change and slightly different data is needed, the quick and dirty can rapidly become a mess.
In this talk, we will go over the evolution of data questioning.
We will show how a simple query can evolve into a flexible and dynamic data tool.

Sivan Milwerger is a BigBrain analyst @ monday.com,
She's a data-driven lady that loves to collect, analyze and draw conclusions using everyday data.
Her passion for work is building data infrastructures and making data more accessible within the organization so anyone can perform basic data analysis while she engages in specialized ad-hoc analysis.
She has a great desire to learn and teach all aspects of data analysis so in addition to working in the BigBrain department of monday.com she volunteers in various platforms that help young analysts develop and succeed in the field.

Stav Levi is a Growth Engineer @ monday.com
She's a constant learner, passionate about data and knowledge sharing, she strives for diversity in tech and leads women tech makers in Israel. Enjoys transforming ideas to reality; making them a part of the product. One of these products is monday.comโ€™s internal tool for A/B tests which helps create, manage and analyze tests to enhance the platform.

Adi Berliner Senderey - Personalized Data Modeling
How can we choose between alternatives, what is the best treatment to prompt optimal health behavior?
In the era of personalized medicine, treatment decisions should be personalized by considering the individual's specific characteristics, past behavior (when known), and other risk factors (e.g clinical measurements, utilization of services etc.).
In this lecture I will demonstrate how data driven care can be achieved.
Ill present an AI-driven personalization engine developed at CRI (Clalit health services) which is capable of analysing thousands of different patient parameters and tailoring a personalized reminder to each patient, in order to reduce no-show rates.

Tal Yagil - How to build a Data Vision in a Data Driven Company?
Almost all companies define themselves as Data Driver, but is this the truth? Technology today can provide data points that sums up to many Tera Bytes. What differs between the companies is what they do with so much data and whether they see Data as a tool for decision making.
Iโ€™ll be sharing with you how Iโ€™ve been planning the Data vision in order to create a Data warehouse, DataLake or a Data Storage for the company (specifically for Data and Business Analysts) to take business decisions and use their data for awesome things.

Tal Yagil Cohen is the Data Product Manager at Gett. She is responsible for the Data, Analytics and Visualisation solutions for a multi platforms, multi country and thousands of users company.
During her day to fay she is defining the architecture of the modelled data while taking into account Stakeholders and Analysts needs, multiple sources and companyโ€™s KPIs.

The event will be hosted at monday.com offices:
52 Menahem Begin Road, Tel Aviv
