SHE KEEPS BEES is a Brooklyn-based blues rock duo who've been producing music in their home since 2006. A group of us saw them play last year and I think it's safe to say we were not disappointed. They've released their latest album, Eight Houses, which CoS says is more folksy but still full of the seductive, velvety dark, earthy growl that I've come to associate with Jessica Larrabee's voice/guitar and the heart jump-start drumming by Andy LaPlant.
'While Eight Houses sees She Keeps Bees moving deeper into the roots of folk rather than blues, Larrabee is clawing farther into soul. Her voice rips from deep within her lungs on “Breezy”, filling the room with the unflinching power of Florence Welch or Torres. Just as her self-taught vocal lessons screwed a hinge into the style, it’s the raw warmth and menacing emotion Larrabee nails to each word that makes her lines pound with aggression.' CoS

'Full of DIY spirit and a malevolent beauty, when Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant play live it's often a raw, jagged, compelling and silencing kind of performance. Their songs swell and fall, only to grow back with twice the bite.' Dice
They're also one of the only bands I know that let you listen to their entire album before deciding to buy. Check out ALL of them here:
See you there.
