The Grownup Noise is one of my favorite local bands, and I'm psyched to hear them in a nice big venue! Also psyched to share the stage with them (see below).
Here's what the press says about them:
"The Grownup Noise’s best asset... is the songwriting, with lines of love and the changing seasons coming out as gently and colorful as the music itself."
"sincerity, wonder, and poetry"
Anyway, they're great, trust me. The other bands of the night include:
Lowman (full disclosure, I'm the bandleader of this one, so I'll have to jump up onstage at that point ;)
Red Star Super Giant
and a group coming up from NY called The Regulars:
“This album reminds me of the way I want rock to be - it's fun, sometimes sad, sometimes bold, and the lyrics matter.” Joni - DigStation
And the South Shore Music Hall is a nice big (500 capacity) recently refurbished basement venue in the style of the Middle East Downstairs; obviously with less history, but with cheaper covers and beers.
We could meet beforehand around the corner; The Fours looks like an ok place, or the Half Door would probably be... entertaining...
