IMA Winter Nights: Key Largo (co-presented by IFB)

Come out to the IMA for the Winter Nights screening of Key Largo co-presented by the Indy Film Buffs! Key Largo is one of the famous series of films starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. The story is set in the Keys during hurricane season and focuses on the clash of wills between Bogart's veteran and a vicious gangster played by Edward G. Robinson. It was directed by John Huston and co-stars Claire Trevor as the gangster's seen-better-days moll. Robinson and Trevor (who won an Oscar for her performance) are fantastic, and Bogart and Bacall aren't bad either. The movie starts at 7; we'll meet for supper and socializing at 6 in the museum's Nourish Cafe (off the main lobby and next to the museum gift shop). Those so inclined can also join us after the show to discuss the movie over coffee. The Winter Nights series runs Fridays through January and February. All films will be screened in the Toby. The theme this year is noir and neo-noir. Admission is $9 ($5 for IMA members). Parking is free and available in a connected underground garage as well as surface lots. Museum admission is also free if you'd like to spend some time in the galleries before the Meetup.

More classic gangster film than noir. I love it as an unofficial sequel to Little Caesar.

The film wasn't as dark as I expected, but it was a great film. I really enjoyed the after party! The groups knowledge of film amazes me!
