Building a Slack Bot with JavaScript
Ever wondered how chatbots work? Do you use Slack? Have you had an idea for a Slack integration that could tell jokes, deploy code, lookup information, or ask questions? Join us at Launch Indy for Building a Slack Bot with JavaScript. Bots are a great way to automate tasks and meet your users where they already are. You'll learn how to use botkit (npm package) and Heroku to deploy your first Slack bot and interact with it from your Slack organization. A big thanks to Greenlight Guru (www.greenlight.guru) for providing the food and space for the evening. We'll enjoy delicious food from Nameless Catering (www.namelesscatering.com), the preferred caterer for Indy's tech community. Presenter: Joe Heth (https://www.linkedin.com/in/joeheth/) Joe has spent the last 15 years developing software, in four different industries using a variety of languages and technologies. He strives to learn something new every day and enjoys mentoring others on their journey as a software engineer. He is currently a remote Senior Software Engineer for Outdoorsy.com based out of Austin, TX. We expect space to fill up quickly. _________________________________ The agenda for this event is: 5:30 - 6:00 pm: Registration & Networking 6:00 - 7:00 pm: Welcome, Presentation, Q&A 7:00 - 8:00 pm: Networking & Goodnight Please note that free parking and the entrance are on the south side of the building.
