On the topic of text editors, I could do a small-ish talk on scribes**

I've actually been a long time Vim user, but was getting tired of gvim
and looking for something between Vim and Eclipse. Since OSX folks are
always raving about Textmate, I tried to find some Textmate-like things
for linux to try out. One of them was Scribes
(http://scribes.so...), which I've been using for about a
month and actually really like it so far, minus a few annoyances.

It's actually written in Python using Gnome/GTK bindings.

** this will also force me to get up there next month, I actually enjoy
biking in the rain, but last nights rain was pretty cold.
