Speaker - Dr. Michael Greger + pitch-in

I'm pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Greger will be speaking to our group!  Dr. Greger is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. The title of his talk is "Combating Common Diseases With Plants" where he will discuss the top 12 reasons people visit the doctor and how a vegan diet can treat or prevent those things (full description below).  He is FULL of great information!!!

This is a FREE event, but please bring a vegan snack to share (if you are not vegan and need ideas, just post something here or on our facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/indyveggie).

This would be a great event to bring a non-vegan friend who has questions about the health benefits of a vegan diet!

6:30 - pitch-in, vegan snacks, conversation

7:00 - 8:00 - Dr. Greger's presenation

8:00 - 8:30 - Q&A with Dr. Greger

8:30 - 9:30 - Book signing and wrap up, please feel free to grab some more snacks and socialize!

Full Description of Dr. Greger's presentation:

Dr. Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this brand-new presentation on the latest in cutting-edge research. In Dr. Greger's annual nutrition review last year he went through the list of the 15 leading causes of death, exploring the role diet may play in preventing, arresting, and even reversing our top 15 killers. This year Dr. Greger will run through the top dozen reasons people visit doctors to highlight some of the latest research on how a healthy diet can affect some of the most common medical conditions.

A founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Michael Greger, MD, is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues.  He has lectured at the Conference on World Affairs, testified before Congress, appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and The Colbert Report, and was invited as an expert witness in the defense of Oprah Winfrey in the infamous "meat defamation" trial. He is a graduate of Cornell University School of Agriculture and Tufts University School of Medicine. Currently Dr. Greger serves as the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at The Humane Society of the United States. Hundreds of his nutrition videos are freely available at NutritionFacts.org, with new videos and articles uploaded every day.

Thought the material was spot on! Great presentation with a nice amount of humor, only thing missing was the 'rim shot' with some of the jokes!
