What we're about

Join us as we practice Insight Meditation, and read & discuss on related topics. Whether you just want to try meditation out for the first time or you're Enlightened, we'd love to have you. We gather to help each other overcome challenges in our meditation, share wisdom, talk Dharma, relieve stress, and simply relax.

We believe meditation can be more than just sitting with your eyes closed. We practice with the goal of bringing the benefits of meditation & Buddhist philosophy into our normal daily lives, to learn how to apply those meditation techniques and insights in real life situations, and to train our minds to bring more peace, love, and true happiness into our everyday living. Having a supportive Sangha can make all the difference, a group where everyone can feel welcomed, relaxed, and can just be themselves.

Tradition of Practice: We are open to meditators and yogis of all traditions, faiths, or secular practices. Meditation and discussions will primarily be framed through the lens of Insight Meditation, also known as Vipassana, as taught by Mahasi Sayadaw, Ajahn Chah, Sayadaw U Pandita, Ajahn Brahm, Thich Nhat Hanh, etc. in the Theravada traditions of Buddhism.

- Schedule: Every meeting, we will first have a 30 minute minimally guided meditation, followed by dharma talk, book reading and discussion on a selected topic. Our meetings are always free to the public. As the public library only allows once/month meeting room reservation, and we would like to meet on a weekly basis, we would really appreciate your suggesting on future meeting locations!

- About Us: Patrick and Ping don't claim to be renowned teachers - they simply want to gather a Sangha together, and help anyone along the Path they can. We each have 7 years of meditation experience, and in a variety of traditions. We have extensive practice with Thai concentration (Samatha) methods, as well as Vipassana (Mahasi Satipatthana), having gone on many intensive retreats, pilgrimages, and working alongside monks promoting meditation around the world.
