Tell us about yourself and what you're looking for. How is an int'l mindset important to you?

Just realized I never answered these questions myself.... People often say there’s vibrancy in int’l circles and I think that comes from a genuine enjoyment of other people. Even before my first trip overseas, the world was always international to me. I grew up here in Adams Morgan, attended Rosemounts and Oyster Bilingual schools. I guess then, for me, an int’l mindset is mindfulness that the world is bigger than our immediate place. It means being at home when you’re among ppl who are different from you—and if you have siblings, aunts, cousins you totally know that includes knowing/being ok that we won’t always agree.

Which of these piques your interest most--social activities, supporting locally-based int'l projects, professional development workshops?

I’m looking forward to all three frankly. I started this meetup because I believe it’s possible to connect with women enjoy laughing and having fun as much as they do growing intellectually/professionally. Who says these things can’t be done with the same group of ladies?

Introduction

Writer, aspiring dressmaker, magazine fiend, with a thing for disco & Dolly Parton. I teach at a local univ in public discourse and cultural identities. Though not my day job, I have an ongoing interest in int’l relations & development issues.
