Presdo’s mission is to increase the value of your social networks through face-to-face and real-time interactions where valuable relationships develop.  Presdo’s event application, Presdo Match, leverages your social networks with an invitation-only “social network” for attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors so they can find each other based on matching interests, communicate, and coordinate face-to-face meetings at an event.


About the role


As one of the core engineers, you will be enhancing the back-end infrastructure and developing end-to-end, server-side to user facing features for usability, scalability, and performance.


  • Experience building large-scale server applications or platform technologies

  • Add new features and optimize our code and database to improve scalability

  • Build web services, remove performance bottlenecks

  • Experience building API based social products is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter

  • Ability to tackle challenging problems on a tight schedule


Required:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of Ruby on Rails specific experience

  • Experience with MySQL/Postgres and Capistrano

  • Strong understanding of Database schema design


Preferred Skills:

  • JavaScript, SASS/LESS, Bootstrap or equivalent

  • Experience with one of the major Javascript frameworks (i.e. backbone.js, ember.js angular.js, react.js, etc.) is a plus

  • XML, JSON, Web Services

  • DelayedJob/Sidekiq/Resque

  • Sphinx/ElasticSearch/Solr

  • Experience processing big data / NoSQL (i.e. MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, or Cassandra) is a plus
