IoT Activities in Barcelona
Barcelona is a hotbed of technological activity and a magnet for people who want to change the world. During this meetup we will be hearing from local IoT startup founders and project leaders who are developing innovative solutions and services for and in Barcelona. We will also discuss the goals and begin planning the next Barcelona City WalkShop.
Marc Fabregas Bach, founder of Zolertia (http://zolertia.com/), will introduce us to his company and share with us what it has already achieved with sensor deployments in the city of Barcelona. Marc will describe his vision for the future and the challenges he sees.
During our meetup, Marc Pous, BDigital urban computing researcher, the chair of this meeting, and organizer of IoT Munich meetup group, will introduce you to the Barcelona City WalkShop 2012, scheduled for November 2012. He will explain the concept of City WalkShops, give you some history and share the experience he had as participant of the first Barcelona City WalkShop in May 2010.
What can you contribute? How can you pitch in, be involved in the Barcelona WalkShop 2012, learn about and share with others the places that IoT makes a difference in Barcelona? Come with your calendar, ready to share your knowledge and get involved!
Tomas Diez, with the FabLab Barcelona (http://fablabbcn.org/) and organizer of Citizen Sensing SmartCitizens project (http://www.smartcitizen.me/), will explain the Urban Sensing Board Kit and data capture activity. He will share the goals and how the project is being funded through crowdsourcing (http://www.goteo.org/project/smart-citizen-sensores-ciudadanos). Are you ready to stream data from your home or business?
If you have another IoT project idea that you want to share with group members (in 5 minutes or less), please propose your idea via a message to Marc Pous and/or the organizers of this meetup group.
Three local projects will be selected to pitch to the meetup members.
The meetup will take place at BDigital. The address is Altell de l'Edifici Media-TIC (Elevator --> pulse A), Espai Digital.
