  • Because Reasons: ReasonML & ReasonReact in Production

ReasonML isn’t actually a new language. ReasonML is purely a facelift on a battle-tested, mature, pragmatic language with a long history of compiling to javascript. It has the development resources of Facebook behind it and first-in-class bindings to React (React was actually first written in SML). ReasonML probably has the lowest barrier to entry of any functional language and you have the entire javascript, OCaml, and ReasonML ecosystems at your disposal. Joel is going to talk about his experience using ReasonML and ReasonReact in production for a few months now in a Pear Deck Chrome extension that adds interactivity to Google Slides Presentations. Likely topics include a general introduction, strengths and weaknesses of the language, development ergonomics, debugging in production, adoption among the team, and where the language is going in the future. The general docs are great and I would encourage you to take a quick look if you like before the talk: https://reasonml.github.io/ https://reasonml.github.io/reason-react/ https://bucklescript.github.io/ If you think you might be able to make it, please fill out the pre-meetup survey (just 3 questions!) and he’ll try to tailor the talk to what people want to hear about. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you might not otherwise. :slightly_smiling_face: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1MB5tgo3Ha0f40ZL_ks2wpEIF8ULs7dYMihA3azGEL60/viewform?edit_requested=true 🍕🍕🍕Sponsored by TelePharm 🍕🍕🍕
