Altered Art Meetup - Encaustics Demo and Iris Folding

We are very excited about October as we will be very busy with activities to share.

We will start the evening off with an Encaustic Demo by Junanne Peck. Attached is some information and a website. Then our Meetup Organizer, Cathy, will lead the group in Iris Folding. I included photos of the Iris Folding and there is lots of information about this paper folding technique on the internet. A supply list will be available shortly.

As always if you prefer to work on your own project, please feel free to, we are a flexible group who just like to get together and enjoy each others company.

Introduction to Encaustics with Junanne Peck

[masked] http://junannepeck.com

Instructor Junanne Peck is an interdisciplinary artist, with printmaking, painting and encaustics as her main art forms. She is a seasoned educator and Teaching Artist in the DFW area. Junanne Peck is a TXO Artist (Texas original Artist) selected by the Texas Commission on The Arts. Her works are featured in solo and invitational exhibits.

Encaustic demos are designed to give artists a brief introduction to the encaustic process.  A 30-minute demonstration is followed by independent work time if warranted, giving participants a chance to experiment with the paint and tools.  Mini demos are in no way
comprehensive.  They are ideal for artists who are curious about encaustic but are on the fence about taking a workshop.

Demos feature basic core information, including the history of encaustic, health and safety, and the fundamentals techniques of painting and fusing. Includied in the demo, if time llows how to create depth and transparency, texture, ultra-smooth surfaces, transfer of drawings, stencils, and collage

I will be unable to make it. I returned from Pittsburgh with a terrible cold.
