Welcome to the most popular hiking group in the Bay Area. We like meeting new people and respect the environment at all times. Bay Area Hiking and beyond.

Interested in spending more time on the weekends in nature? Want to explore more of the Bay Area? Are you an afternoon person? Like to walk at a moderate pace? This may be the group for you! This Meetup is great for beginner or intermediate hikers. We will host a hike most Saturdays and Sundays. The hikes will average about five miles -- some shorter; some longer. Some of the hikes are dog-friendly. Most hikes will be in the Bay Area within 90 minutes of Palo Alto in Santa Clara, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Marin counties, although some will be farther away, e.g., Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.

Black Diamond Canyon Hike

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve

Black Diamond Canyon Hike In the Eastbay Regional Parks, Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve, 5175 Somersville Road, Antioch. On this Hike we explore the Eastside of the Preserve, where you will travel through an Historic Graveyard, grassland, and have views of the bay area and the Delta, while climbing single track through canyons, cemetery, historic landmarks and a mine. Black Diamond is located in Contra Costa County, south of Pittsburg and Antioch. From the 1860s through the turn of the last century, five coal mining towns thrived in the Black Diamond area. Historic Rose Hill Cemetery, You can go to the underground visitor center in the old mine. From the CA 24/Interstate 680 interchange in Contra Costa County, exit Ygnacio Valley Road (exit 46b). Drive east on Ygnacio Valley Road about 8 miles, then the road changes into Kirker Pass. Garin Park - 10.5 mile loop hike

Cal State East Bay Hayward

THIS IS A PLACEHOLDER EVENT FOR NOW. Details will be posted closer to the date. Date may also change based on weather conditions. Let's do an 10.5 mile loop hike in Garin/Dry Creek Regional Park in Hayward. The hills should be green and lush with lots of water flowing in seasonal streams. Bring a change of shoes as it will be muddy. At least one hiking pole is recommended for slippery conditions and stream crossings. Because of the large group size, we'll start at the Cal State East Bay parking lot in Hayward near the Northernmost part of the park and then cross over Ziele Creek and hike down past the Garin Barn to Meyers Cottage for lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables and restrooms at both places. Then after lunch, we'll hike back up to the trailhead. ALWAYS USE THE LINK OR GPS COORDINATES IN THE DRIVING DIRECTIONS SECTION BELOW. Garin/Pioneer High Ridge Loop Hike (Dry Creek Staging Area, 181 May Road) In Garin / Dry Creek Pioneer Park, Union City. A lite work-out through grassland to the ridge of the park and views back over the San Francisco Bay. Nice relaxing stretch to the top of the ridge and then down the same trail around a small pond. I will find a nice spot on the ridge to take a break, so bring sneaks, lunch to enjoy with the conversation of others. Directions: From 880 going South (Union City), exit Whipple Blvd., then take a Right on Whipple and proceed on Whipple under the over pass and go straight on Whipple all the way (heading towards the mountains) to Mission Street. Cross Mission street and go into housing complex and the staging area parking lot is on the right. Las Trampas Regional Wilderness

In the East Bay Regional Parks, the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Area with 5,342 acres of wilderness. The dominant trees are coast live oak and bay laurel. Half a dozen fern species are found in the park and there are large areas of grassland. At the top, you will see beautiful panoramic views of the East Bay, Ygnacio, San Ramon and Amador valleys, Mt. Diablo, and Carquinez Straits.
