Are you sick of hearing “we can’t afford it” — while banks and corporations are handed billions, services crumble, and wages stall?
Do you feel like things don’t make sense anymore — because they don’t?
This group is for people in Newcastle and the North East who are tired of pretending the system just needs a “tweak.” It needs exposing.
The lies about how money is really created and what public debt actually is have gone on too long. We’ve been sold the myth that the government needs our taxes before it can spend, when in reality it creates the money first. And we’re told there are “financial black holes” that require “tough choices,” which end up defunding our social care, health services, housing, and infrastructure.
We're here to:
• Break down the economic myths that justify cruelty
• Support each other in speaking up and staying sane
• Create smart, visible pushback
• Link what’s happening nationally to what we’re feeling locally
• Change the story — and build a new public narrative based on truth, because if we don’t change the story, we’ll be locked into the one designed for us
You don’t need to be an expert. Just honest, curious, and angry enough to want something better.
We welcome people from all walks of life — teachers, nurses, carers, union members, students, parents, jobseekers, business owners, community organisers, volunteers, researchers, and anyone whose voice is ignored in decisions that affect us all.
We’ll meet monthly or as and when needed, and collaborate between meetings on creative actions and messaging.
This isn’t a party-political space. We are independent of all parties and politicians — but we recognise that real change requires political will. Our focus is on building public understanding and pressure so that whoever is in power is forced to act. It’s for those who know the game is rigged — and are ready to challenge the rules.
