I like your website. I just returned from the Umbria area. I also did a language class in Firenze in 2007. I am in love with the country. I have never been to any of the meetings always wanted to but it is to far. I live in Scotts Mills small world. Good luck with your trip if I hear of anybody wanting to do something like this I will forward them this info. Ciao Sue

I have met some of you at the meet up on Sunday evenings although I have not been there for some time as I have moved to Silverton and it is hard to leave my little slice of green heaven.

Over the past several years, I've organized tours in Italy.  Last year I stayed on for several weeks and attended a language school to try them out as instructors for a residential immersion Italian class.   They were wonderful and I have several people asking me to organize the class for this September.  If you have not noticed, air fares are the lowest I have seen in over 10 years to Italy.  You can get a fare from PDX to Florence or Rome for under $800!  The exchange rate for the Euro is really favorable as well.  This is the year to go to Italy!

You will see on my website, we do many cultural activities as well the language class.  Within a 50 KM range of the farm there are many fabulous sites to visit and amazing places to eat!  We will study in morning and do day trips in the afternoon.  You are free to go on your own, stay at the farm and enjoy the unbelievable view.  My trips are very relaxed and in the end people feel like they have had the experience to see Italian life.   We go to the local markets, eat in country restaurants, taste local wines, olive oils, visit an olive mill dating back to 1492 and much more.  There are many local museums of excellent quality.  Because we are a small group we have much flexibility we can elect to go to places of particular interest to the group.

Here are the details and you can visit my fledgling website to see pictures and get a tentative day by day plan:

Dates:  September 13-26, 2009

Location:  An Alpaca farm near Umbertide in Umbria.  North of Perguia, very near the border with Tuscany.

Group size:  Minimum 6 people, Maximum 11 people

Class:  We can have one or two classes depending upon our levels.  We can do a beginners class and an intermediate or advance.

Cost:  I expect it would be $3,500 per person including lodging, food, beverages, local transportation, tours, and language class.  Not included:  air fare, insurance, gratuities, and some special events or museums.

Deposit required of $1000 to hold your place and balance due 30 days prior to departure.
