Ci vediamo, ci parliamo [We'll see each other, we'll talk]

The topic, as agreed upon by members present yesterday, will be TRAVEL.

Below, I've cut and pasted the message I sent to all members; this is for the convenience of those who are not on the mailing list (about 40 of you)--I encourage you to sign on to the mailing list :)

Ciao tutti!

I just took on as new organizer to keep the Italian Language Meetup group going!  This message is long because it has many important details.  I promise future ones will not be so extended.

Thursday, August 22, 2013, 7pm, Life Café on Ford Parkway in St. Paul: It was a really enjoyable meeting—everybody who RSVPd came and brought friends.  We laughed together a lot and helped each other through, switching between English and Italian, with an emphasis on the latter, of course.  Check out the PHOTOS.  Avanti!

Here’s a brief report on things we discussed.  Please feel free to ask, in Italian J about details.  Further comments and suggestions are most welcome.

1.  Name of the group: The advantage of keeping ‘Twin Cities’ is to remain open to both cities; we could make clear that it will always be hosted in St. Paul.  Or we can change to ‘St. Paul Italian Language Group.’

2.  Leadership team, co-organizers, and hosts: I invite you warmly to volunteer for these roles; it is a way of claiming ownership and involvement.

3.  Sponsors: we can approach Italy-related businesses (restaurants, cultural centers, etc.) to advertise on our page—they gain visibility and we often gain discounts.  Their sponsorship ads are usually listed modestly in a corner of the page.

4.  Each future meeting will have a topic so that we can focus our vocabulary and discussion.  Those present at any meeting will decide the topic for the following time.  We will also include board/card games and dinners in these meetings or as special events.  Occasionally, a native speaker will be invited to lead a session on a topic of her/his choice.

5.  In order to accommodate so many members’ schedules, we may vary between Tue and Thu each week, select various St. Paul locations, but always at 7pm.  Hope this helps people include plans for this great group in their schedules.

6. I paid $72 to Meetup to be organizer.  Members present yesterday agreed to pay at least $1 (just one time) till the amount is reached, and approved this announcement.

For those of you who know participants from the Roseville location, where this group used to be held, please pass this info along, or send me their contact info, if you have it, and I will contact them.  If you send to me, please use ONLY the 'Send Email' link to the left of my photo on my page, to ensure privacy.

Amichevolmente,

Sonita.

My comments as organizer may have their bias--I was thrilled with the turnout and the energy that everybody put into the occasion. Very congenial company and lots of Italian conversation!

    Hi everybody,
I'm new to the cities, and very excited to have found this group. Unfortunately I am unable to make it this Thursday, but hope there will be another meetup soon to meet you all. Thank you for putting this together!

A special welcome to newcomers to the group, and a different but equally special invitation to members who haven't attended yet. Jump into it! Come this Thursday, relax, laugh, enjoy!

    Hello all,
Just a note to say we are glad this group is continuing, though it's been a very long time since we attended. This fall some commitments I made will be ending, so I hope we can be come active again. We hope to see you then.
    Tanti auguri a tutti!
    Ci vediamo,
    Peter & Karen
