An evening of Chamber Music, Fine Food and Wine in Luxurious Surroundings

Our fearless leader, Susan, is on the board of a local Chamber Ensemble. The Hall Ensemble is a group of Ft Worth Symphony musicians who put on evenings of exquisite music in superior surroundings. (Generally magnificent private homes.) Included in the modest price of these evenings is complimentary fine food and wine as well as free valet parking. It REALLY doesn't get any better than this...

The Hall Ensemble will be performing three concerts the weekend of 25 and 26 January in the spectacularly renovated Thistle Hill Mansion. Tickets are a very reasonable $50 and you will NOT be disappointed. These evening are luxurious, but not stuffy. The musicians are accessible, friendly and interesting and the atmosphere is just plain FUN.

There are three concerts available. I will be at all three. If you're busy Saturday night, check out the other two concerts -- the brunch concert is going to be a blast! Read below for more details. Ciao!

Tickets: $50 each available at or by calling[masked]

Hall Ensemble announces a special concert event, which will redefine Fort Worth’s motto – “the city of cowboys and culture”.

Presented at Thistle Hill, this event will harken back to the days when cattle barons would host lavish parties, complete with entertainment in the salon concert tradition. Hall Ensemble will perform chamber music selections by Schumann, Haydn, Barthe, and Kreisler, art songs by Romberg, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Vaughn Williams and Saint-Saens, as well as opera arias by Verdi, Donizetti, and Mozart.

Vocal soloists are members of the Fort Worth Opera’s studio artist program. They are Corrie Donovan, soprano; Amanda Robie, mezzo-soprano; Ian McEuen, tenor; and Steven Eddy, baritone. Instrumentalists are Kevin Hall, bassoon; Pei-Ju Wu, violin; Daniel Sigale, viola; Karen Hall, cello, and Stephen Carey, piano.

Hall Ensemble is now in its third year of presenting a chamber music series in elegant private homes. “Music in the Mansion” will provide the group’s signature amenities including complimentary valet parking, and elegant beverages and hors d’oeuvres; served prior to the program to give the audience an opportunity to socialize. Performers will mingle with guests, answering questions and enhancing the intimacy of the event.

Thistle Hill Mansion was built in 1904 by A.B. Wharton and Electra Waggoner. The massive 11,000 square foot home became Fort Worth’s first landmark. Beautifully restored by Historic Fort Worth, the mansion features Tuscan columns, intricate interior woodwork and a grand double staircase.
