It's so very rewarding to know how many edible and medicinal plant-friends are surrounding us every day, even in places where you wouldn't expect them; with this awareness we can find beauty in every moment. And there is something to be said for knowing that, in an emergency, you've got some plants to get you through. When we meet the plants, a whole world opens up; and you'll notice you'll be recognizing more and more as time goes by. Plants are kind of like friends, but more interesting.
For the month of June only, there is a curated "Pop-Up" shop on 155 James St. S. where they are offering beautiful hand-made, plant-inspired products - and - I know I'm shamelessly blowing my own horn here - some of my own making: Shagbark Hickory syrup, herbal finishing salts, and assorted herbal tinctures will all be for sale. But the big deal is that we get to do two walks - one on June 9th and the other on June 23rd.
This walk begins at the shop location and we walk down to a local park where there are a number of trees, herbs and weeds that are nature's gifts to us in terms of potential food and medicine. We'll return back to the shop where I'll have a variety of wild teas for you to sample, as well as samples of foraged food to try.
Please RSVP to show your intent to join, and so I know who to expect: But, you must be there in person to sign-up for the walk before it begins - 15 spaces only for the general public - first-come-first-served - the Walk is at 6:00 and sign-up registration opens at 5:30.
