About the talk

Designers and developers.
Agile and user research.
The mockup and the delivered product.

If any of those statements sent your anxiety through the roof, you’re in the right place. Depending on where you work, design and development can feel like two opposing tribes constantly at odds with each other. When the relationship between these two groups goes south, it can take a serious toll on the quality of the work we produce. Throw in a deadline, processes that don’t acknowledge each other, and strong opinions on both sides, and you can end up with a smackdown.

But does it really have to be that way?

Sam Uhling has spent the last 3 years experimenting with different ways to change the dynamic between designers and developers on her teams. She’ll share some of the lessons she’s learned the hard way, like why 20 yards is too many, why being the UX Lorax makes you unbearable, and how to lure people out of the building without permission.

About the Speaker

Sam Uhling is a Senior Product Designer at Paycor, the organizer of the Cincinnati User Enjoyment Meetup, and was recently the Co-Chair of MidwestUX 2017 in Cincinnati. When she’s not UXing, she’s home brewing, throwing pottery, and spending time in the great outdoors.
