詳細

It looks like it will be a nice (partly cloudy) Sunday at Point Reyes National Seashore. Please join me for a 15-mile hike (approx.) beginning at the Bear Valley Trailhead and taking the Glen Trail, Lower Coast Trail Loop, Coast Trail and Stewart Trail to Wildcat Camp (7 miles). We will return via the Stewart Trail, Glen Trail, Glen Trail Loop, Glen Camp, and Bear Valley Trail (7.5 miles).

Our trek will take us to both Wildcat Camp and Glen Camp. There are restrooms at both and also at Divide Meadow. Total elevation gain is around 2,200 feet. This is mostly an out-and-back hike and will target an average pace of around 22 minutes per mile. We will depart from the Bear Valley trailhead at 9:40 AM, so please arrive a little bit early.

Bring layers, plenty of water, and a lunch or snacks if you wish. I would suggest long pants and long sleeves as protection from nettles and (possibly) poison oak. The trails are greening up nicely with the recent coastal moisture. Wind is forecast to be under 10 MPH with temperatures in the upper 60's and low 70's - perfect hiking weather!

Won't you enjoy our beautiful Point Reyes National Seashore on a strenuous fall hike with me? A camera and binoculars are also suggested.
