homestays for high school students from Japan

My family did this a couple of years ago. We're doing it again this summer. I know some of you have done it in the past, also.

Here at the Texas Intensive English Program, we are in desperate need of many more households to host international students for a weekend this summer.  If you can, please sign up.  If you can't, please pass this information along.

Please forgive me if this e-mail is redundant, or has reached you in error.

I am sending the information regarding the homestays and conversation exchanges. Unfortunately, the group originally scheduled for July 10/11 has changed their arrival date in Austin, so we have had to change their homestay weekend to July 17/18. We do have two additional groups needing homestays this summer (both high school students), one of which coincides with the adult group homestay.

1)      Teachers of English from Chile and India (Sat/Sun, July 17/18)

2)      High School students from Taichung, Taiwan (Friday afternoonthrough Sunday afternoon, July 16 -18)

3)      High School students from Mishima, Japan (Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, July 23-25)

We generally prefer to place one adult with each host family, but two high school students with each family. We are most definitely in need for hosts for all of the groups this summer.

I am attaching the application forms for each group. The attached forms explain what is expected.  Generally, hosts would treat their guests like any other guests from out of town:  Show them a couple of your favorite Austin spots, catch some local entertainment, cook your family recipes, etc. A modest stipend of eighty dollars per guest is paid to host families to defray costs.

The conversation exchanges require no application.  Please just reply by e-mail to indicate your intent to participate, and then show up. All you need to do is talk and make friends. The dates for the conversation exchanges are as follows:  (all at 3:00 to 5:00 PM)

Taichung (Chinese) July 7, 12, 14 & 20

Mishima (Japanese) July 21, 26, 28 and August 2, 4

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you again for your interest in our programs.  Please forward this e-mail to anybody in the Austin area you know who may be interested.
