Hello Everyone,

Mich (aka RynesMom) informed me about the following Ikebana shows (Japanese flower arrangement) in our area.

The following events are sponsored by the Chicago Botanical Garden this spring. Both events below relate to a well known Japanese tradition; flower arrangement. If the weather is good, it is a fantastic venue for a family outing. See the Chicago Botanical Garden webset for details at http://www.chicagobotanic.org/

Ikenobo Ikebana Show
March 29 and 30, 2008 ? 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Presented by the Chicago Chapter of the Ikenobo Ikebana
Society, this year's theme is "Design Inspired by Chicago
Architecture," an exhibition of traditional Japanese flower
arranging. Traditional Japanese flower-arranging games will be
performed, along with tea ceremonies at 2 p.m. and floral
demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. Mr. Kenji
Shinoda, Japanese Consul General to Chicago, is expected for a
ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the show on Saturday morning at
10 a.m.

Ikebana international show
May 31 and June 1, 2008 ? 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Enjoy beautiful Ikebana arrangements during this event that
celebrates the Japanese art of flower arranging. There will be
many opportunities to learn about the techniques of Ikebana.
Presented by the Ikebana International Society.

See you Thursday!

David
