  • Photograph the iconic white sand dunes and yuccas of White Sands National Monument November 1-4, 2017 while learning new photography techniques to create fine-art landscapes. This workshop includes early entry/late exit to the National Monument so we can be there for twilight/blue hour. We'll also be able to photograph the full moon as it rises over the dunes, making for some amazing photographs. We'll also photograph the Organ Mountain range and have special evening/night shooting of a native American petroglyph site.

    Maximum group size: 8 photographers
    Minimum group size: 4 photographers

    Personalized Instruction
Each participant will receive personal attention in the field during the shooting sessions. I will also provide "ask me anything" post-processing lessons and one on one support each day to all attendees. Topics will include the use of Lightroom & Photoshop for color and black and white image processing. We will also have group photo reviews and critique sessions.

    Who should attend
Beginners through advanced photographers are welcome on this workshop. You will be expected to have a working knowledge of your camera and the fundamentals of exposure. Non-photographer companions are not permitted to attend the group activities.

    What's Included
The workshop fee of $899 per photographer includes:

    • Field instruction
    • Classroom instruction (Photoshop & Lightroom)
    • Extended hours access to White Sands NM
    • Image review & critique

Meals, lodging, and transportation to the shooting sites is not included. The entrance fees to White Sands are $5 per adult; National Parks passes are accepted and cover a driver and all passengers in that vehicle.

Payment: The workshop fee is due in full on September 1, 2017. The workshop fee is non-refundable after September 15, 2017 unless I can back-fill your space with another participant. I will provide all registered attendees with a separate payment link.

I am going to land in El Paso. Where are you driving from? I would be interested in carpooling. I see you are from Ardmore- I worked there for 10 years. On West coast now. Susan

Hi All - I can offer carpooling and depending on travel plans, we can meet-up to and from the airport. I will have a car since I will continue going West after this photo workshop.

That's awesome Jason. They don't do that for just anybody, you got lucky. Did it have to go thru the base ? Have fun all . Can't wait to see pictures.

I'd like to join this workshop/class - can my husband come along? I need a driver. If yes, is there a fee for him?

    January 17

    • Jason O.

Hi Linda- I don't have a "non-participant" option, as it makes the group too large. If you would like your husband to be able to go on the field excursions, he'd need to be signed up as part of the group. However, I'm sure you could get a carpool with one of the other participants for the field trips.

I am not sure how he is going to pull off being in there after close. They are very strict about being out at closing. It's part of a military base. White Sands Missel Range.

Great opportunity to see a beautiful landscape. A plus that we can enter the park at off hours. Susan
