Google Apps Script

Hi Everyone,

Our meetup will be on Tuesday (not Thursday!), Feb 5th at the offices of Spanning, at 714 Congress Avenue, Suite 200, from 7pm - 9pm.

Our sponsor this week is MyTennisLessons.com -- they are hiring!

Topic:
This month the Javascript, Node.js and Google Developer Groups are holding a combined meetup to host Arun Nagarajan from Google. Arun is giving a presentation on Apps Script: a cloud based JavaScript environment that allows you to program with Google Apps such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets, etc.

Put your Javascript skills to work in a different host environment and write code entirely within a browser based IDE. Come see the capabilities of this technology and leave with the ability to write your own scripts.

Speaker:
Arun is a Senior Developer Advocate on the Google Apps Developer Relations team. He resides in New York City and previously worked in Boston developing cross-platform mobile applications. Arund holds a BS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.

Sponsor:
Special thanks to MyTennisLessons.com for sponsoring the food and drinks for this meetup. If you're a front-end JavaScript developer interested in an opportunity with an Austin-based startup contact them through their web site or come to the meetup.

MyTennisLessons.com is a website run by a young, motivated, and entrepreneurial team. Customers and instructors use our service everyday and rely on us to help manage their fitness lives. We booked over 2,000 lessons last year with hundreds of instructors and are continuing to grow everyday. This year we will be launching a network of fitness sites, centered around FindFitness.com, that will make the process of finding a new fitness-activity simple and easy.

We are currently hiring for a front-end developer with a focus on Javascript and CSS3. Experience with Ajax, Rails, or a Javascript MVC framework is a plus. This position will start out as part-time, with strong potential for full-time hire.

See you soon,

Johnathan

Arun gave a great presentation and fielded a lot of questions with concise answers. His use of live coding and feature demos was almost flawless.
