Discuss books about, or spun off from, evergreen fave Sherlock Holmes

Fiction fan or not, old school or wanting to check out something new, we have many choices in books about this character who keeps getting revived and rebooted!

1) A Study in Scarlet and/or The Hound of the Baskervilles, and or any 5 or more of the 56 short stories in the Holmes “canon” by Arthur Conan Doyle.

2)Mastermind: How to Think Like Sherlock Holmesby Maria Konnikova

3) Arthur and George by Julian Barnes.  This is a fictionalized but fact-based treatment of Arthur Conan Doyle's famous participation in the George Edalji case.

4) House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz.  This recent novel is the only non- Doyle Sherlock Holmes fiction sanctioned by Doyle's estate. Horowitz is the writer/creator of Foyle's War, a series you might have enjoyed on PBS.

5) The Science of Sherlock Holmes - From Baskerville Hall to the Valley of Fear, the Real Forensics Behind the Great Detective's Greatest Cases by E. J. Wagner.

We'll start out with some refreshments and light socializing,  no problem if you arrive closer to 7.

If you are an established member who has been to at least three meetings and want to suggest a different book (that you will commit to reading for the meeting!) email me or post on the meeting discussion board.
