Re: [joomlabayarea] [REPLIES GO TO ALL] Joomla Certification Interest?

Carol asked a bunch of questions and gave feedback in an email just to me. Here are the answers that others might find interesting. Sorry about not posting the questions with them - too much work.
*******

You cannot have a phone, browser, apple watch, pen, paper, nothing while taking the exam. It's conducted in a safe browser so you cannot do anything else except the exam.

It's timed. 90 minutes. You cannot speak, gasp, leave the room for any reason until the exam is completed by all or until 90 minutes. It's a certification exam. Strict rules.

Only about 30+ people have taken the exam and passed so far. I think it will gain momentum.

If you fail you can take the exam again but not on the same day. I think you have to wait a week but I'm not certain. Being that there are few exam dates in our country, you'll have no problem waiting the amount of time you need to before you take it again. You must pay every time you take it. I do not believe there is any discount at all to take it a second (or third or whatever) time.

Hello JUG,

The Joomla Certification Team has worked hard for two years to bring Joomla! Administrator Certification to the Joomlaverse.

Read about the certification and what it's about at: https://certification.joomla.org/

I passed the exam at JWC16 and as a JUG we can host a certification locally. There are quite a number of details that would need to be addressed with venue, exam room, internet speed so before I get into all of that, I want to see if there is interest in hosting an exam locally.

The exam does cost and is purchased through the Joomla! Project. It costs $75 and it might be a little more if we need to rent a space. More on all that later.

For now, if you could please reply if you're interested or not, that would really help to see if we should move forward or not.

Replies go to the entire group mainly so that if a question is asked that would benefit everyone to know the answer to, they can see it. Please read https://certification.joomla.org/ before asking questions though in case they can be answered there (like what it's about, why do it, etc.).

Best,

Jenn
